A 7-segment display is a type of electronic display device used to show decimal numerals and some alphabetic characters. It consists of seven LEDs arranged in a figure-eight pattern, which can be illuminated in different combinations to represent digits from 0 to 9, and some letters. Structure

1. Segments:

   • Each of the seven segments is an LED that can be turned on or off to form different numbers and some letters.
   • The segments are labeled as A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
   • Some 7-segment displays also include a decimal point (DP) for displaying decimal numbers.

2. Pins:

   • Common Anode: All the anodes (positive terminals) of the LEDs are connected together. To light up a segment, you need to ground its corresponding pin.
   • Common Cathode: All the cathodes (negative terminals) are connected together. To light up a segment, you need to supply power to its corresponding pin.

Pin Configuration

For a common cathode 7-segment display, the typical pinout is:

1. Pin 1: Segment A
2. Pin 2: Segment B
3. Pin 3: Segment C
4. Pin 4: Segment D
5. Pin 5: Segment E
6. Pin 6: Segment F
7. Pin 7: Segment G
8. Pin 8: Decimal Point (DP)
9. Pin 9: Common Cathode (Ground)

For a common anode display, the connections are similar, but the segments are activated by setting the corresponding pins to LOW.

1. Wiring the Display:

   • Connect each segment pin of the display to a digital output pin on the Arduino.
   • Connect the common cathode pin to the ground.
