The TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Cooler Module utilizes the Peltier Effect to transfer heat from one side of the ceramic plate to the other when an electrical current is applied. Constructed with 127 semiconductor couples sandwiched between two high-grade alumina (Al2O3) ceramic substrates, it offers solid-state temperature control with no moving parts, no noise, and no refrigerants.
When powered by a 12V DC supply, the cold side absorbs heat while the hot side emits heat. To prevent thermal runaway and permanent damage to the module, the hot side MUST be equipped with a suitable heat sink and cooling fan assembly prior to applying power. With proper heat dissipation, the TEC1-12706 can easily freeze water drops or chill small enclosures within minutes.

2. Critical Operating Precautions:

Mandatory Heat Sink Requirement: NEVER power the TEC1-12706 for more than 2-3 seconds without a heat sink installed on the hot side. Operating without heat dissipation will cause internal thermal overload and destroy the semiconductor junctions within seconds.

Thermal Interface Material (TIM): Apply a thin, even layer of quality thermal grease/paste on both sides of the Peltier module to maximize heat transfer efficiency to the heat sink and cold block.

Power Supply Selection: Use a regulated 12V DC power supply rated for at least 10A (or 120W) if running alongside cooling fans and pump assemblies.
